Tash Siddiqui

As well as editing The Wagner Journal, along with Barry Millington and Richard Laing, and doubling as website suprema, Tash Siddiqui is a freelance copy-editor for Princeton University Press and other academic publishers. She also tutors in maths.

After many months researching in archives and libraries in Berlin, Bayreuth, Dortmund, Cologne and Marbach am Neckar, she is still working on the revised version of her doctorate, to be published by Boydell & Brewer. She hopes to finish it before the centenary of the 1929 Krolloper production of Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer in January 2029, or, failing that, before the end of time.

I joined The Wagner Journal in late 2011, after a rigorous selection procedure that consisted of a quick chat with Barry outside the Royal Albert Hall in London during an interval at the Proms.

I feel privileged to be associated with a journal committed to such high production values. Even more important to me is that it manages to unite meticulous academic standards with a readership of lay as well as professional Wagner enthusiasts. It’s been a welcome contrast to the kind of impenetrable obfuscation that has given prose emanating from the ivory tower such a bad name.

I’m delighted that the journal now has an online presence that exhibits the same high production values that distinguish the print edition. I’m also pleased that our entire back catalogue of more than two hundred feature articles and nearly five hundred reviews is now so easy to access. From Wagner’s Acquittal to his Zurich, from his chicken coop to his monster man, it’s all just a few clicks or taps away.
